polling the masses

Question:

When calling your Pediatrician's office, would you rather have a phone tree or a live person answer the phone?

Thanks.

If it's a quick phone tree (like press 1 for sick visits or to speak with a nurse and 2 to schedule a well visit) and then you reach a person by pressing one of those options, that is fine, but a person is always best after 1 step...

IF it's a choice between waiting long on hold to talk to a live person just to find out that they need to transfer you to a different extension, that's a problem. I'd rather have a very brief phone tree in that case.

Our Dr. does a short phone tree of--do you want to sched an appt, have a medical question, need a prescription. . .and a few others. It works great. Try it--435-251-2740.

I just push the schedule an appt button if I really need to talk to an actual person and nothing else will suffice.

For sure... live person!! However, I agree that a quick phone tree works too if the first option is to talk to a live person - then if you don't want to wait on hold you can deal with the phone tree.

Live person!

And I love that last post about Ella, it made me laugh. And the stubborn comment reminds me of Beck...we're offering choices too, went really well for awhile, but now we're having a big problem with him constantly wanting to change his choice and then a big tantrum when we finally have to decide for him...any suggestions?? Ah the terrible twos :)

Meghan--We had that same problem with Ella. We've started saying, "Is that your final decision?" and it works....well, most of the time :)

As a human being, I prefer other human beings. Maybe some robots out there would like another robot to speak to.
